How does it align with ISO 9001
The standard is completely compatible with and will complement ISO 9001:2015. IATF 16949:2016 is not an official quality control framework, and all organizations requiring compliance of this specific standard will need to comply with the specifications of ISO 9001:2015. Unlike ISO / TS 16949, however, IATF 16949:2016 does not include the text of ISO 9001:2015 but includes only the additional specifications unique to the automotive field.
There are many big improvements implemented in IATF 16949:2016. Many organizations that are expected to move to it, such as manufacturers who supply components for the company, must closely analyze it to thoroughly consider all of its requirements. The transfer period would have to be finished by 14 September 2018.
Emphasis on regulations
The IATF (International Automotive Task Force) has established the IATF 16949 framework to facilitate change in the certification phase, both in the OEM and its supply chain. Since the 1980s, relentless efficiency and competition, along with persistent efforts to attain optimum quality levels, have forced the key OEMs to specifically identify different management criteria that can be implemented into the ISO 9000 framework, but which are often targeted at unique reference industry specifications.
The previous specifications related to the automobile industry emerged into the QS9000, AVSQ-94, and VDA 6.1 systems, prior to the convergence of all the separate requirements published in IATF 16949 in the various States.
